President and Chief Executive Officer
Tom Goodwin serves as President of Affordable Suites of America. As one of the founding members of Affordable Suites of America, Tom has been involved with the organization since 1999. Tom also spent 30 years in the banking industry where he was an Executive Vice President of Dominion Bankshares Corporation. After Dominion was purchased by First Union in 1993, he spent 10 years in the construction industry as President of two construction companies. Tom is a graduate of Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in Political Science, a Graduate of the ABA Thesis Program at Northwestern University and attended the Law School at the University of Virginia. After College, Tom also completed coursework in Accounting, Banking, Management, Computing Systems, Computer Programming, and Data Communications. Tom is widowed, has 2 children and resides in Roanoke, Virginia.
Chief Operating Officer
Chris Rutherford comes to Affordable Suites of America with over 20 years of hotel industry experience. He has overseen the overall operations of the brand since 2009 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2012. Chris is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration. Most recently, he was with Strand Development Company as a Regional Director of Operations. He has extensive General Management experience with many of the hotel brands such as Extended Stay Hotels, LaQuinta Inns & Suites, Sheraton, Ramada, Marriott and AmeriSuites. Chief Business Development Officer
Tammy Hart-Coon brings to Affordable Suites over 20 years of hotel sales and marketing experience. Appointed by Affordable Suites of America as Chief Business Development Officer in 2012, Tammy is responsible for the sales and marketing efforts of the current portfolio and development efforts of the brand. Tammy is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Hospitality Management. Most recently, Tammy was the Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing for Strand Development Company. She has extensive sales & marketing experience with brands, such as, Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice, Wyndham and Starwood, working in all types of markets, such as, airport, downtown, suburban, resort and interstate areas. Chief Financial Officer
Bill Foster joined Affordable Suites of America in 2005. He is a Cum Laude graduate from East Tennessee State University with a BS degree in Accounting and is CPA licensed in Virginia. Bill’s career spans from public accounting with Price Waterhouse to positions as Controller, General Manager, Financial Manager and Chief Financial Officer. He has over thirty-six years experience in financial reporting and management accounting. Bill is married, has 2 children, and resides in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
