Fredericksburg Area Guide

The Fredericksburg region offers a wide variety of opportunities to the traveler whether for business or pleasure. Points of interest include Ferry Farm the boyhood home of George Washington. Four major civil war battles were fought in the area and the national park service has preserved them for all visitors to the area to enjoy. There are three military installations including Quantico Marine Base, The Naval Weapons Station at Dahlgren and the Army's Fort AP Hill. Downtown Fredericksburg has a variety of unique shops many located in restored buildings dating to colonial times. Mary Washington University is also located on the edge of downtown Fredericksburg. 

 

Fredericksburg is home to Geico Insurance where their regional headquarters employs more than 3000 people. Intuit Corp. is based here as well. The Celebrate Virginia complex is now under development. This multi use facility will offer more than 1 million square feet of retail and office space along with a 1500 "Del Webb" over 55 housing community, a 450 single family home subdivision and 2 championship golf courses.
